GROUP SESSION TOPICS

Common Application Completion Sessions

Get a head start on writing your college applications by scheduling it into your week!  Work in a supportive group, and some fellow rising seniors, to get this project completed before the beginning of the school year.  You’ll thank yourself!

  • Offered throughout August and September

  • $40/3 hour session

  • Please check the calendar for scheduled dates.  You can sign up for these sessions separate from our College Counseling Packages.

College Essay Development and Writing

Even for experienced and confident writers, the college essay can be confounding.  Working with an experienced writing coach can help you to identify the elements of your experiences and ideas that are most relevant for this unique writing challenge.  Register for these small group brainstorming, topic selection and writing sessions.  Limited to 3 students per session, to allow for highly individualized, guided work.  Individual sessions also available.

  • $50/3 hour session, maximum of 3 students per session.  $130 for drop in for all three.

Bridging the Transition to College (Online Tutorial and Classes)

Designed to support a successful transition to college, this class uses a combination of online and in person group work to explore the skills needed for success in college and as young adult.  Using an established curriculum from Human Esources, used at colleges and universities nationwide, we will present topics which are relevant to any and all young adults looking for skills to live and thrive independently in their post-secondary life.  Sometimes, taking the time to explore, and discuss, the

many elements of independent studying and living helps you to be more proactive, and realize that you are not alone as you manage the many challenges of starting college!  You may join one or all of the components of these classes.  Topics include the following: College Study Skills, Major and Career Exploration.  Best taken the summer before leaving for college, or during your first Winter break back home.  Call for more details.

Parent and other Group Presentation Topics

Available for groups, please call to discuss your needs and we can tailor the talk to your particular audience. Don’t see a topic you are interested in?  Just ask!  I want to help answer your questions and to empower you with grounded, informed, thoughtful information and conversation.

 

Demystifying the College Process for Students and Parents

If you’re worried and don’t know where to start, this is a great place.  Take an hour to learn about timing, strategy and how to plan ahead.  Information is empowering.  Start now!  Appropriate for freshmen, sophomores, and junior parents and students.
